I think most of the other reviewers were already Commotions fans, when Easy Pieces was released. Meanwhile, whilst LC was one of the first artists that I discovered for myself (as opposed to being stuff that my peers at school were into), I didn't "discover" him until "Lost Weekend" was released as a single, closely followed by "Brand New Friend"/5(30).

Producers Clive Langer and Alan Winstanley, as is their wont, created a shimmering pop surface for Lloyd Cole and the Commotions' second album, Easy Pieces, sweetening the tracks with string and brass countermelodies and emphasizing the chiming highs of the guitar and keyboards for an attractive sound that echoed the earnestness of British bands like the Hollies and Herman's Hermits circa /

Jul 01,  · Yes, if you're a Lloyd Cole fan, Easy Pieces is a must-have despite its flaws. Easy Pieces doesn't have another "Perfect Skin" on it, which in my opinion is actually a good thing as Cole seemed to make a conscious decision to move away from writing songs you instantly fall in love with and more towards those that might take a few listenings to really sink in (the mark of a maturing artist)/5(5).
